Camp FAQ

DOES MY CHILD NEED TO BRING A LUNCH? SNACK? WATER?

Your child needs to bring a lunch every day except for Friday which is Pizza Day. Sandlot provides pizza for the children and staff on Friday. Children need to bring a mid-morning snack and we encourage the use of water bottles every day. Water breaks are mandatory and insist that children drink water frequently throughout the day.

WHAT ABOUT REALLY HOT DAYS?

When the temperature gets REALLY hot, we keep the children inside our facility where it is air conditioned. The children play indoor games which are still lots of fun for them.

WHAT ABOUT SUNSCREEN?

Parents need to send in sunscreen with thier child. Please put their name on the bottle. The staff will apply sunscreen frequently throughout the day.

WHAT CLOTHES SHOULD MY CHILD BRING?

A bathing suit and a towel are important because the children swim everyday. Please put your child's name on their bathing suit and towel. Children can hang up their bathing suit and towel to dry overnight but should be taken home on thier last day here for the week. All their belongings should be kept in a back pack. SNEAKERS are required in the summer. Children are running all day and will need to protect their feet. Crocs/sandals/flip-flops/heelies is not appropriate. If you would like your child to have a different kind of footwear for the pool or beach area, please include them in the backpack.

LOST AND FOUND

A lost and found basket is kept at the entrance and you may look through these items to find a missing item. At the end of the summer, we put everything out for parents and children to look through and leftover items are donated to the Salvation Army.

ARE ELECTRONIC DEVICES ALLOWED?

Electronic devices are allowed to be used at the end of the day when children may be waiting for parents to pick them up. Otherwise, they should remain in their back packs. Cell phones are allowed but must be kept in back packs and only used when staff give permission to do so. Sandlot is not responsible for lost electronic devices. Please encourage your children to be reponsible for any devices that they own.

BEHAVIOR CODE

Our behavior code is very simple - we expect all campers to respect people and property. Hitting, biting, kicking and inappropriate touching of anyone, including staff members, is not allowed and is grounds for immediate dismissal. Parents will be notified of repeated misbehavior. If your child tells you of another child hurting them either physically or verbally, please inform the Camp Director, Coach Mitch. Please do not discuss this with a camp counselor, ask to speak to Coach Mitch.

SHOULD I CALL TO SAY MY CHILD WILL BE ABSENT?

Yes! Sometimes we wait for all the children to arrive before heading down to the field. If we do not know your child will be absent, we could be waiting for he/she needlessly.

WHAT IF MY CHILD GETS HURT?

Our staff is trained in CPR and FIRST AID. Coach Mitch is trained in Emergency Response and CPR/AED. We will take care of minor cuts on the field. Ice packs are always available. If your child has more than one episode of vomiting in one day, more than one episode of diarrhea in one day, uncontrolled coughing or wheezing, unusal or extreme fatigue or lethargy, skin lesions which have not been diagnosed or treated by a licensed health care practitioner, an oral temperature of 101 degrees Fahrenhiet or higher or an under arm temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher with any of the following: diarrhea, rash, ear ache, sore throat or vomiting.
